Portuguese international Bruno Fernandes is keen on continuing at Manchester United despite interest from Saudi Arabia.
According to Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside, Bruno Fernandes has no intentions of parting ways with Manchester United. While he was linked with a move to the Middle East, leaving the Red Devils was never really a possibility.
Fernandes made a name for himself while playing for Portuguese outfit Sporting CP. His impressive performances resulted in a big-money move to United in the winter of 2020.
Since joining the Red Devils, the 29-year-old attacking midfielder has been one of their mainstays. He has featured in a total of 216 matches for the English club and has contributed towards 132 goals. Fernandes has scored 71 goals and he has bagged 61 assists.
The Portuguese international has been one of their best players and he was handed over the captain’s armband ahead of the ongoing season by Erik ten Hag. While the Red Devils have been struggling, the 29-year-old is still doing fine with 14 goal contributions in his 31 outings.
Fernandes is one of the stars of European football and he has been on the wish list of Saudi clubs for a while now. Since signing Cristiano Ronaldo in the winter of 2023, the Saudi Pro League clubs have gone on to sign quite a few top stars from Europe.
They are always on the lookout for players who can further improve the league. The 29-year-old is an exceptional player and he will surely be a marquee signing for the league. But, unfortunately, clubs from the Middle East will have to wait a few more years.
Fernandes is keen on staying in Europe, he is the leader of the United team and wants to continue at the club for a few more years. He wants to be a part of the new era at the Manchester-based club under the minority ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
According to Romano, there was never really a possibility of Fernandes leaving Manchester United at any point. He is very clear that he wants to stay at the club. That was the case back in the summer and it was the same in the recently concluded winter window.
