Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal are keen on acquiring the services of 29-year-old Manchester United mainstay Bruno Fernandes.

According to a report by Fichajes, Al-Hilal are interested in having Bruno Fernandes in their ranks. They have already acquired quite a few stars from Europe and are expected to go big again next summer. The Manchester United skipper is a name on their wishlist.

The Saudi Pro League club took the world by surprise when they decided to make moves for the 29-year-old in the recent January transfer window. They made a huge offer for the services of the Portuguese international but there wasn’t really any interest from United or Fernandes.

He has been a key player in the Red Devils setup since joining the club in the winter of 2020. He has 131 goal contributions in his 215 outings. Fernandes was rewarded with the captain’s armband ahead of the season by Erik ten Hag.

The 29-year-old has since been involved in 30 matches. He has found the back of the net on seven occasions and has even bagged six assists.

He still has quite a few years left in him and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s next minority shareholder, feels the Portuguese international could play a big part heading into a new era. He still has two years left on his deal in the summer and there is an option to extend it by another 12 months.

As a result, the Red Devils are in no rush to sell. But, given the kind of financial strength Al-Hilal have, they are expected to return for the 29-year-old’s services in the summer. The Saudi Pro League clubs have signed quite a few stars from Europe in the recent past and they are expected to make more moves in the summer as they look to improve the standards of their league.

Fernandes could be a great addition to their league and he will surely further bolster Al-Hilal. While there was speculation about him being interested in the Saudi club’s offer, the United skipper reportedly didn’t consider the idea of parting ways. He is committed to the project at the Manchester-based club and is happy to be leading them into the next era under Ratcliffe. But, even that won’t stop the Middle East club from trying.
