Manchester United are considering launching contract renewal talks with their 26-year-old English full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
According to Dharmesh Sheth via GIVEMESPORT, Manchester United are quite happy with the performances of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and could soon get in touch with his representatives to discuss a new deal. The Red Devils are looking to secure their investment as their focus is bolstering other areas on the pitch.
The Aaron Wan-Bissaka Story
Aaron Wan-Bissaka was a part of the Crystal Palace youth ranks since his childhood days. He came up the ranks and made it to their first team in the winter of 2018. After 18 months with their first team, Manchester United came calling and signed him for £50 million in the summer of 2019.
The former England youth international has had a rollercoaster ride since joining Manchester United. He has been a guaranteed starter at certain points while he has also falling down the pecking order at times. The 26-year-old did not have the best of starts under Erik ten Hag. But, he has managed to work his way back into his plans after being out of favour in the initial months.
Of late, he has been an important first-team player for the Dutch manager. He has featured in 17 matches this season and has racked up 1,233 minutes. Wan-Bissaka has even contributed towards two goals.
His contract was running out at the end of the season, and there was an option to extend his stay by another 12 months. Since there was a lot of interest in his services, the Red Devils opted for the additional 12 months.
Manchester United Want to Keep Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Erik ten Hag is quite happy with the performances of his right-backs and while he would love to add another attacked-minded full-back to his ranks that is not his priority. Manchester United have other areas that they need to focus on. According to Sheth, signing a new right-sided full-back is their fourth priority at this stage.
They have three other areas that they want to sort out in the near future. As a result, they won’t really have any resources to sign a new right-back. As a result, Sheth believes it won’t be a surprise if they start negotiating terms with the 26-year-old regarding a new deal that will extend his stay at the club beyond the summer of 2025.
