Real Madrid eyeing summer move for Andreas Cambiaso

Real Madrid might launch a bid worth €40-50 million to sign 23-year-old Italian full-back Andrea Cambiaso from Serie A club Juventus.

According to a report by Corriere dello Sport, Andrea Cambiaso is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are in the market for a left-back heading into the summer transfer window. And they have set their sights on the 23-year-old Juventus left-back, with a bid worth €40-50 million on the cards.

Who is Andrea Cambiaso?

Andrea Cambiaso has established himself as one of the best young full-backs in Serie A in the last few years. A native of Genoa, the Italian defender graduated from the youth division at his hometown outfit before breaking into the club’s first-team squad. But he had to wait until the 2021/22 season to establish a foothold at the Serie A side.

A decent breakthrough season at Genoa CFC captured the attention of bigger clubs before Juventus secured his services in July 2022. But the 23-year-old had to wait until the ongoing campaign to break into the first-team squad at the Allianz Stadium, spending the 2022/23 season on loan at Bologna FC 1909.

The youngster has featured regularly for Juventus this season, managing 1,292 minutes of game time across 21 appearances thus far. Cambiaso’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Recent reports have linked him with Tottenham Hotspur. But the equation will change soon, with Real Madrid interested in him.

Real Madrid Interested

Real Madrid will delve into the market for a left-back in the summer transfer window. Ferland Mendy will likely leave Los Blancos at the end of the 2023/24 season, with the Frenchman blowing hot and cold in the last few seasons. In addition, Fran Garcia is a backup option at best for Real Madrid.

So, it behoves Real Madrid to invest in a left-back in the summer transfer window. Alphonso Davies has thus emerged as a top target for Los Blancos. But Andrea Cambiaso also features on Real Madrid’s radar, with Davide Ancelotti and Carlo Ancelotti pushing for his signature. The report claims that a bid worth €40-50 million might be on the cards.

The 23-year-old has his best years ahead of him, and Ancelotti can mould the Italian left-back to his liking. But it will be interesting to see if an offer worth around €40-50 million is enough to tempt Serie A giants Juventus to sell the youngster.
