Liverpool are set to sanction a loan move for highly-rated 21-year-old prospect Bully Koumetio to Blackburn Rovers.

According to Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo, highly-rated defender Billy Koumetio will likely leave Liverpool in the last hours of a window as the club is set to sanction a loan move to Blackburn Rovers. The Reds are hoping the 21-year-old prospect achieves plenty of regular game time at the Championship side.

Liverpool have had a silent transfer window much like most of their rivals in the Premier League and Europe. FFP and the rising prices of players have played a major role in keeping teams quiet with their purse strings, and the Reds seem destined to end the month without any major signings.

However, they could still see a late departure from the club with highly-rated defender Billy Koumetio set to seal his loan move. Blackburn Rovers are keen, and Liverpool will sanction the temporary deal in a bid to allow the 21-year-old prospect to play regularly with a senior team in England.

Koumetio joined Ligue 2 side USL Dunkerque last summer, but after nine appearances under his belt, Liverpool decided to recall the 21-year-old prospect. The defender has been featured for Jurgen Klopp’s senior side, but it appears that will be the end of it, as he would hope for better opportunities under the new manager who may arrive to replace the German.

At Dunkerque, he might have wanted to play a good season, but unfortunately, it took Koumetio plenty of time to adapt. Liverpool considered cancelling his loan early in December and executed their plan earlier in January.
Now, they are ready to sanction a loan move to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, which Liverpool might consider at a higher level than Dunkerque on the sporting side. The 21-year-old prospect will aim to become a regular for Rovers, although he will face plenty of competition for places.

He does add to their depth, although Blackburn are nowhere close to achieving anything significant this season. They are currently languishing in the 18th spot in the Championship table and will certainly aim to avoid relegation as their primary objective.
