West Ham United’s 27-year-old attacking midfielder Pablo Fornals is all set to join Real Betis before the window shuts.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Betis have a verbal agreement in place with West Ham United for the transfer of Pablo Fornals. The Spanish outfit were keen on bolstering their ranks before the end of the window, and they have managed to strike a deal for the services of the Spanish international.
Pablo Fornals made a name for himself during his two-year-long stint at Villarreal. His performances for the Spanish club earned him a move to the Hammers in the summer of 2019. The 27-year-old has featured in a total of 203 matches for the Irons and has contributed towards 42 goals.
He has been a great servant for the English club over the years. Fornals has featured in almost every role in the centre of the park as well as attack. While he remains an integral part of their first-team squad, his game time has gone down over the past two seasons.
He is no longer a guaranteed starter, and the majority of his appearances have come off the bench. Suggesting that he has gone down the pecking order in the recent past. With his contract running out at the end of the season, he has been linked with a move away throughout the winter.
Acquiring the services of Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City meant the Hammers now needed to make room for him in the squad. And, with Fornals’s contract running out, they decided to cash in on him rather than lose out on the attacking midfielder for free in the summer.
Real Betis were looking for attacking reinforcement as they wanted more depth in their ranks. The Spanish club were interested in having Fornals in their ranks because of versatility, and they have managed to strike a deal with West Ham.
After rounds of negotiations, Betis have agreed verbal terms with the Hammers. The Spanish outfit will pay a fixed fee of €6 million plus add-ons worth €4 million. They are moving past to complete the paperwork before the deal is officially signed.
