Newcastle United, Tottenham interested in Omar Marmoush

Tottenham and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Omar Marmoush from Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.

According to a report by BILD, Omar Marmoush is the subject of interest from Tottenham and Newcastle United. The two Premier League clubs are in the market for a versatile striker heading into the summer transfer window. And they have set their sights on the 24-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt forward.

Who is Omar Marmoush?

Omar Marmoush is a native of Cairo in Egypt and spent most of his formative years in his homeland. He graduated from the Wadi Degla FC youth division before arriving in Europe by joining Wolfsburg in August 2017. But he had to wait until the 2022/23 season to establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the Volkswagen Arena.

Eintracht Frankfurt snapped him up last summer, and the move across the Bundesliga has done wonders for him. The 24-year-old has contributed to 15 goals in 25 appearances thus far this term. Marmoush has found the back of the net 12 times while providing three assists.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian international’s progress at Eintracht Frankfurt has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. The report claims that Omar Marmoush has emerged on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, with the two clubs looking to prise him away from the Bundesliga outfit.

Premier League Calling?

Tottenham and Newcastle United have several mutual targets, with the two clubs recently losing the race to sign Victor Orakpo. The North London outfit did not replace Harry Kane with a top-class striker last summer. While Alejo Veliz is a promising prospect, he is not ready to be the first-choice centre-forward. Marmoush is thus a viable target for Tottenham.

As for Newcastle United, recent reports have linked Callum Wilson with a move away from St. James’ Park. The Magpies are also in a spot of bother over Wilson and Alexander Isak’s fitness issues. So, it behoves Newcastle United to invest in a versatile attacker, with Omar Marmoush emerging on their radar.

A winter move is not on the cards, especially for Newcastle United, whose Financial Fair Play issues are mounting. But it will be interesting to see if the 24-year-old swaps the Bundesliga for Premier League in the summer transfer window.
