Crystal Palace are making a late move to land 27-year-old West Ham United winger Maxwel Cornet at the cub.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Crystal Palace have been quite active heading into the transfer deadline day, and they are expected to complete multiple moves before the window shuts. While they are busy finalising Adam Wharton’s transfer from Blackburn Rovers, the Eagles have also enquired about the services of Maxwel Cornet.

Crystal Palace Set to be Busy on Deadline Day?

The arrival of Wharton will bolster Crystal Palace’s midfield and now they want to ensure they have enough firepower up top. The Eagles might be 14th on the points table but they are only six points ahead of the drop zone. As a result, they need to have a decent second half to survive in the top flight. And, they are making sure they have enough gas in their tanks to survive the drop.

The Eagles want to add a new winger to their ranks before the end of the transfer window, and they have their eyes set on Maxwel Cornet. The 27-year-old wide man arrived at West Ham United in the summer of 2022. On the back of an impressive season with Burnley, the Hammers invested £17.5 million to sign him.

That bet has not gone according to plan as Cornet has failed big time. He has featured in 31 matches since making the move and only has seven goal contributions. He has had just 294 minutes of footballing action spread across ten matches this season.

The 27-year-old is surplus to requirements at West Ham, and they are ready to negotiate his departure. Nottingham Forest are one of the clubs that have been linked with the Ivory Coast international this week but nothing has happened so far.

Maxwel Cornet Set to Join Crystal Palace

It seems the Eagles are willing to bet on him and give him another chance in the English top flight. They need more depth in attack, and signing the versatile forward who can feature on both flanks as well as number nine seems to be a good idea.

As a result, Crystal Palace have approached the Hammers regarding a potential transfer. An enquiry from the Eagles end means they are interested in signing him and according to the report, West Ham could sanction his exit before the window shuts.
