Florian Plettenberg has confirmed the impending transfer of Bradley Ibrahim to Hertha Berlin while also revealing the young prospect has completed part of his medicals with the German side. The 19-year-old Arsenal whizkid will move for practically nothing. But the Gunners may have several clauses included to benefit them in the future.
Bradley Ibrahim to join Hertha Berlin?
In the last few days, news of 19-year-old Arsenal whizkid leaving the club broke out, as the defensive midfielder is now set to join Hertha Berlin. He has reportedly completed the first part of his medicals with the German club, and he appears very close to moving away from north London.
Florian Plettenberg has insisted that Bradley Ibrahim will sign a contract until 2027 and revealed that Luton Town were also interested in signing him. The Premier League club might have joined the race late as Hertha Berlin left no loose ends in negotiations with the club and player side.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have included plenty of clauses that would benefit them in the future with regard to the 19-year-old whizkid. For starters, they have matching rights for the player, meaning they could offer a similar fee as any other club, which may even hit at a first preference to buy back the player in the future.
Arsenal have inserted a healthy sell-on clause and will also receive add-ons based on the number of appearances Ibrahim makes with Hertha. As for the fee, it’s not a free transfer, but the German side have paid barely anything to sign the 19-year-old.
Arsenal eager to keep other youngsters
Mikel Arteta might have elevated Arsenal’s status in the last few years. But he has not given many opportunities to academy stars. Ibrahim’s departure could begin a trend that might see the Gunners lose many other promising talents.
For instance, they have held talks with Amario Cozier-Duberry, who may not get an immediate path into Arteta’s first team. Clubs like Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United are all keen to snap up the young winger. Arsenal will try their best to keep him as they did with other youngsters on the verge of leaving, like Ethan Nwaneri.
