Crystal Palace are preparing a revised bid for the services of 19-year-old Blackburn Rovers midfield sensation Adam Wharton.
According to a report by HITC, Crystal Palace are keen on bolstering their midfield in the ongoing January window. They are fighting for survival in the English top flight and a quality reinforcement can help their cause. They have their eyes on Adam Wharton who has been in sensational touch and are looking to put forward an improved offer to sign him.
Wharton has come up the ranks at Blackburn Rovers. He made it to their first team in the summer of 2022 and has since gone from strength to strength. The versatile midfielder has featured in over 50 matches for their first team and has even contributed towards nine goals.
He has been used in four different roles in the centre of the park in his 29 appearances this season. The teenager has put in quite a few impressive performances and those haven’t gone unnoticed. While he did pen down a new deal with his childhood club towards the end of last year and still has over four years left, Crystal Palace are determined to land him at the club in the ongoing window.
The Eagles are fighting for survival in the Premier League and they feel they need more quality in the midfield. Cheick Doucoure’s injury has been a big blow for them. As a result, they are looking to bring in Wharton. They feel he could help them in the short as well as long run. Given his potential, he could go on to be a special player.
The Eagles have been tracking him for a while now and they recently submitted a bid worth £18 million. But, that offer has been turned down by Blackburn who are determined to keep hold of their star. Despite their offer getting turned down, Palace haven’t taken the back seat. They are preparing an improved bid and are expected to submit an offer worth £20 million soon.
It will be interesting to see if that is enough to prise away the English youth international from Blackburn. Meanwhile, other clubs are interested in him and have scouted him. The likes of Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked. But, these clubs don’t have the best of financial situations and that is why the Eagles surely stand a chance of getting their man.
