Crystal Palace have agreed personal terms with 27-year-old KRC Genk defender Daniel Munoz ahead of a potential transfer.
According to Julián Capera, Crystal Palace are keen on bolstering their defence in the ongoing transfer window as they look to survive in the Premier League. The Eagles have their eyes on Daniel Munoz of KRC Genk and have managed to agree on personal terms with the 27-year-old full-back.
Who is Daniel Munoz?
Munoz joined the Belgian club in the summer of 2020 from Atletico Nacional. Since making the move, he has featured in 148 matches and has contributed towards 39 goals. He has found the back of the net on 19 occasions and has bagged 20 assists.
In the 2023/24 season, he has featured in a total of 29 matches and has contributed towards nine goals. The 27-year-old defender has been on fire, and his impressive performances have not gone unnoticed. It has resulted in a lot of interest and with his contract running out at the end of the season, a transfer in the ongoing window is on the cards.
Genk will prefer offloading him, and making some cash rather than letting him leave as a free agent in six months. As far as the player is concerned, he seems to have all his options available to him. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have been keeping a close eye on him, and they want him in their ranks.
Crystal Palace Want a New Defender
The Eagles do have two quality right-sided full-backs in their ranks. But both of them are in the twilight of their career, and signing Munoz on the cheap seems to be the kind of move that helps them in the long run. He still has quite a few years left in him and on top of that, he will be a boost in their quest to survive in the English top flight.
Crystal Palace have been in talks with the player’s representatives, and they have managed to strike a deal with them. The Eagles have agreed on personal terms with the player. While it is a big step towards signing him, the negotiations with the club are still in progress. Palace are expected to soon strike a deal with Genk for the services of the 27-year-old. The next 24 hours will be key in this transfer.
