Nottingham Forest are looking to acquire the services of 24-year-old Chelsea utility man Trevoh Chalobah on loan.
According to a report by The Sun, Nottingham Forest wants to reinforce their defence in the ongoing transfer window in an attempt to survive the relegation battle. They have their eyes on Chlesea’s Trevoh Chalobah and are looking to sign him on loan.
Trevoh Chalobah Searching for a Solution
Chalobah was seen as a defender with huge potential when he broke into the Chelsea first team. While he did make a wonderful start, things have not gone according to plan. He has slowly gone down the pecking order and has been out of the picture for seven months with a hamstring injury.
While he is closing in on a return, there is no place for him in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans. He is surplus to requirements, and the player won’t want to spend his time on the sidelines after his return from a long injury break.
What Next?
Even Chelsea would love to avoid paying him his wages despite not needing his services. And, this is where Nottingham Forest comes in as they need defensive reinforcement. They are in the race for survival in the English top flight, and a player like Chalobah could turn things around for them. As a result, they are keen to have him in their ranks.
But, they are not willing to pay a significant loan fee. The Tricky Trees are looking to make the most out of the situation. Because of the player’s fitness record, they will only offer around £1 million. But, if he can regain full fitness and play games, they are ready to negotiate a permanent transfer in the summer.
While the loan fee is way too low, first-team minutes could help him, and an eventual sale could be great for Chelsea. The player is homegrown and if he is sold, which will be considered direct profit which helps the Blues with Financial Fair Play regulations.
The initial offer does not really sound right. But, it seems to be a deal which is a win-win for every party involved. Meanwhile, there are other clubs interested in the 24-year-old. And, with only a week to go before the window shuts, it will be interesting to see if this goes through.
