Barcelona are keen on acquiring the services of Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood, who dreams of playing for the Catalan giants.

According to a report by The Sun, Mason Greenwood is keen on joining Barcelona. The Spanish giants want to bolster their attack and prepare for a future without Robert Lewandowski, who is in the twilight of his career. They have been scouting the Manchester United academy graduate and feel he could help them in the long run.

Mason Greenwood: A Tale of Potential and Controversy

Mason Greenwood has been at Manchester United since his childhood days. He came up the ranks at some pace and made it to their first team in the summer of 2019. The 22-year-old forward got off to a flying start and was regarded as one of the biggest prospects in world football.

But, things did not go according to plan because of certain allegations against him. When he returned to the picture after a year-long period on the sidelines, Manchester United decided against reinstating him in the team and sent him out on loan to Getafe. Since arriving in Spain, he has been doing a great job.

Mason Greenwood on the Rise Again

His impressive performances in La Liga have convinced Barcelona that he can be a great investment for the future. The 22-year-old is talented, and the Blaugrana have already scouted him on six different occasions; the reports have always been of the highest order.

As a result, they are planning to sign him in the summer after his loan spell at Getafe ends. While Getafe would love to have him for years to come, they might not be able to compete with Barcelona. And, as far as Manchester United are concerned, they are willing to sanction the sale of the 22-year-old versatile forward.

They feel irrespective of his talent, bringing him back in the new era would only be a step back. Greenwood dreams of joining Barcelona and wants to revive himself in the best possible way. With the player and the Catalan giants on the same page and United willing to sanction a departure, there is a real possibility of a transfer in six month’s time. And, given the quality of the player, he will surely bolster Barcelona’s attack.
