Manchester United have turned down Inter Milan’s proposed swap deal involving Denzel Dumfries for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

According to a report by The Sun, Inter Milan are keen on having Aaron Wan-Bissaka in their ranks, and they went ahead and offered Manchester United a swap deal to sign the right-back, with Dutch wing-back Denzel Dumfries going the other way. But the Red Devils have turned it down.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and his Rollercoaster Journey under Erik ten Hag

Wan-Bissaka was not the preferred choice under Erik ten Hag during the Dutch manager’s initial months at the club. But, the former England youth international did not give up. He has worked his way back into the thick of things and currently, he is an integral part of their first team squad.

In the ongoing season, he has featured in a total of 17 matches. The 26-year-old has started on ten of those occasions despite being out injured for over a month. He has put in some impressive displays of late, and ten Hag is keen on having him in his ranks.

The 26-year-old’s contract at the club was all set to run out at the end of the season. But, the Red Devils have activated the option to add another 12 months to it. With his deal now valid until the summer of 2025, they are in no rush to sell him in the winter.

Inter Milan Want Wan-Bissaka, Offer Denzel Dumfries in a Swap Deal

There is interest from Inter Milan, and they made an offer that unfortunately has been turned down. The Serie A giants wanted to acquire the services of Wan-Bissaka and were ready to offer Denzel Dumfries in return. The fact that they are willing to offer the 27-year-old has come as a surprise to one and all.

The Dutch international is very important for Inter Milan’s first team, and the fact that he has featured in 18 matches and has contributed towards six goals makes it quite clear. He has been a consistent performer for years and is among the best attacking full-backs in the Serie A.

But his contractual situation is becoming a problem for the Italian club. Dumfries’s deal runs out in the summer of 2025, and the Serie A club want to extend his stay. But they cannot meet his demands. The 27-year-old wants to be paid £80,000 per week, but Inter are only offering a £35,000-a-week deal.

The Nerazzurri do not have the best financial situations, and they are in need of offloading players to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations in Italy. As a result, there is no possibility of them meeting his demands. Unless he changes his stance, Dumfries will eventually leave.

As a result, Inter were ready to offer him in return for Wan-Bissaka. But, unfortunately, their plan has failed as the Red Devils feel he is integral to their plans and are not ready to accept the Italian outfit’s terms.
