Aston Villa could attempt to sign Emile Smith Rowe in the summer, with Unai Emery persisting with his interest.

According to Ben Jacobs on Give Me Sport, Aston Villa have maintained an interest in Emile Smith Rowe and could make a summer swoop. The 23-year-old Arsenal homegrown forward remains is on the periphery of Mikel Arteta’s side, thus giving rise to speculation about his long-term future.

Aston Villa to make Emile Smith Rowe move?

Emile Smith Rowe’s future has remained a subject of debate this month. Suggestions from elsewhere initially suggested Arsenal were ready to sell their 23-year-old homegrown forward. Aston Villa, among other teams, have kept tabs on the attacker’s situation, with some reports stating the Villans were ready to make an approach.

Unai Emery wanted Smith Rowe in this window. But Arsenal have not shown any inclination towards letting him leave this month. The Aston Villa boss was the one who gave the 23-year-old Arsenal homegrown forward his debut in the Gunners’ first team during his time as manager at the Emirates.

The Spaniard views Smith Rowe as someone who can flourish at Villa, with the club reportedly failing two years ago with at least two bids. The Gunners have remained adamant about their stance over the 23-year-old, and Ben Jacobs insists Villa could make a swoop over in the summer.

Jacobs states Villa are still interested in the attacker, who can play versatile roles in Emery’s system. Arteta still rates Smith Rowe, but there are chances the Gunners could boost their coffers with a sale in the summer, at which point Emery’s side will want to come in front of the queue.

Emile Smith Rowe future at Arsenal

After a stellar 2021/22 season, Smith Rowe has found it challenging to break into Arteta’s system. The Arsenal manager continues to trust him, but injuries have played a massive role over the last 18 months, which has seen the attacker play significantly less.

West Ham recently showed an interest, but Arsenal are uninterested in selling the attacker this month. The Hammers could come back with another approach, like Aston Villa in the summer. As for the 23-year-old Arsenal homegrown forward, he might even consider his future if his condition remains the same.

As for Aston Villa’s interest, they might have loved to have him on board this month. But as things stand, Emery has switched his attention elsewhere. They are linked with Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rogers, with the player seemingly open to the move.
