Wolverhampton Wanderers are bracing themselves for summer offers for Hwang Hee-chan, a target for Liverpool and Tottenham.
According to a report by Football Insider, Hwang Hee-chan is a popular figure in the Premier League market. Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the 27-year-old forward. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers are bracing themselves for bids for their talismanic attacker in the summer transfer window.
Who is Hwang Hee-chan?
Hwang Hee-chan has established himself as one of the most underrated players in the Premier League since joining Wolverhampton Wanderers. The South Korean international spent his formative years in different schools and academies in his homeland. But he rose to prominence during his stint with RB Leipzig, particularly when he was on loan at sister club Red Bull Salzburg.
Wolverhampton Wanderers came calling in August 2021, signing the 27-year-old on a season-long loan deal before completing a permanent transfer 18 months ago. While he was a solid performer in his first two years at the Molineux, his performance levels have considerably improved this term.
The former RB Leipzig forward has contributed to 14 goals in 21 appearances thus far this season. He has found the back of the 11 times while providing three assists. Hwang’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of Premier League bigwigs, including Liverpool and Tottenham.
Liverpool, Tottenham Keen on Hwang Hee-chan
Tottenham had even considered a summer move for Hwang Hee-chan, although it did not materialise. But the continued interest is understandable, considering Ange Postecoglou prefers versatile attackers. He has brought the best out of forwards who fit the mould, with Son Heung-min, Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Brennan Johnson thriving under him. In addition, Timo Werner has bolstered the Tottenham attack this month.
As for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp also prefers players in a similar mould, with Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez capable of reprising multiple roles in the final third. So, it is hardly surprising that Hwang has emerged as a target for Liverpool. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers are bracing themselves for summer bids for the 27-year-old.
The South Korean international is coming into his own as he reaches his peak years. So, bigger clubs may come calling in the summer transfer window amid interest from Liverpool and Tottenham. It will be interesting to see if Hwang Hee-chan leaves Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
