West Ham United’s search for a wide attacker could have taken them towards FC Nordsaelland 19-year-old forward Ibrahim Osman.
According to Dharmesh Sheth on Give Me Sport, West Ham could target a move for Ibrahim Osman before the current window shuts. The 19-year-old forward who plays for FC Nordsaelland could make the big switch to England. The winger was also part of the same academy from which Mohammed Kudus graduated.
West Ham United keen on Ibrahim Osman?
David Moyes remains eager to address some deficiencies in his squad and make moves to strengthen his team this month. With the January window fast shrinking, there is barely enough time to get deals done. But the Hammers remain adamant about a new midfielder and wide attacker.
Moyes has seen some shortages on the left wing, where he does not have a nailed-down player to play in that position regularly. He has used Lucas Paqueta there regularly but feels the need to bring in someone different to help the Brazilian operate from a central role.
They are now considering a move for FC Nordsaelland’s 19-year-old forward Ibrahim Osman. As per the report, a host of other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Brighton, have been monitoring the Ghanaian’s situation and could join the Hammers in the race. Arsenal’s interest, in particular, is intriguing, with Mikel Arteta overseeing a youth-driven project.
Osman also came through the Right to Dream Academy, like fellow countryman and West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus. Whether that affects giving the Hammers the edge remains the question. But as per Dharmesh Sheth, there’s definitely interest from the London side in the 19-year-old forward.
Are West Ham targeting a wide forward?
Amid the interest in Osman becoming apparent, there are others on their shortlist of wide forwards, as Sheth mentioned. As things stand, West Ham are uninterested in paying big for Jack Clarke, while there is clearly some interest in other stars like Emile Smith Rowe, but Arsenal are not keen on a sale.
Al-Ittihad’s Jota also remains a target, with earlier reports indicating the Portuguese forward might leave Saudi Arabia six months after his arrival there. Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto features on their list. But the Championship side will likely fight hard to keep the Italian.
Among those many names, Moyes will want to sign at least one and then focus his attention on bringing a midfielder. West Ham are leading the race for Kalvin Phillips, but there are complications posed by Manchester City’s demands for a huge loan fee.
