Newcastle United are interested in acquiring the services of 22-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone.

According to a report by HITC, Newcastle United are interested in having Manu Kone in their ranks. The 22-year-old midfielder has showcased great signs of promise and his performances for Borussia Monchengladbach have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.

Kone came up the ranks at Toulouse before joining the German club in the winter of 2021. He ended up staying at the French club on loan for the next six months before making the move to Germany.

Since joining the German club, he has featured in a total of 71 matches and has even contributed towards nine goals. He has become one of the mainstays of the team and his ability to feature in any role in the centre of the park opens up multiple options for his club.

While he still has more than two years left on his deal with Monchengladbach, Newcastle United could still make a move for his services in the near future. The Magpies might be in need of reinforcement in the centre of the park as the future of their 27-year-old star Joelinton is uncertain.

The Brazil international joined the Magpies in the summer of 2019. Things didn’t really go according to plan for him in the initial years and he never really became a regular. But, things have changed since Eddie Howe started using him in the centre of the park.

The 27-year-old has turned things around and he is one of the most important players in the team. Despite his importance in the team and regular first-team action, Joelinton’s future is not certain. His contract runs out in 18 months time and the two parties haven’t been able to agree on terms.

The Magpies are not willing to pay him the kind of money he wants and are ready to sell him in the summer if he doesn’t agree to a deal by the end of the season. His potential departure will leave a huge void and Newcastle have already started sorting replacements and Kone is one of their targets.

The 22-year-old will be a perfect fit for the English club as he is versatile, has time on his side and will only get better with every passing season.
