David Moyes’ West Ham United are interested in the services of the 24-year-old former Celtic winger Jota.
According to a report by GiveMeSport, West Ham United want to bolster their attack in the ongoing transfer window and they have their eyes set on Jota. The 24-year-old hasn’t had the best of times since joining Al-Ittihad and is keen on returning to Europe.
Jota made the move to the Middle East last summer after Al-Ittihad forked out £25 million to acquire him from Celtic. The 24-year-old was doing wonders for the Scottish club and his performances resulted in interest from across Europe.
But, the Portuguese winger ended up moving to Saudi Arabia to be a part of the football revolution that is taking place in that part of the world. Unfortunately for him, the move hasn’t worked out well. He was left out of their squad and has been subject to limited first-team action. Jota wasn’t even included in a training camp in Dubai this month.
Things don’t look good for the 24-year-old and there might not be a way back for him. But, this is a boost for West Ham United who are looking to sign him on the cheap. The Hammers want to reinforce their attack but they don’t have the best of financial situations. As a result, they want to keep their spending to a minimum in January.
But, having seen the Jordan Henderson situation develop. They want Jota to force a similar exit similar to what Henderson has done to secure a move to Ajax. The Hammers want the Portuguese winger to convince Al-Ittihad to terminate his contract, allowing him the freedom to return
West Ham are on the lookout for a good value deal and they feel signing Jota could end up being a great move. He has all the qualities to help bolster their attack and given his current situation, an exit in the near future is on the cards. But, convincing the Saudi club to terminate his contract will be an uphill task as they paid £25 million to sign him.
