Tottenham Hotpur’s 34-year-old utility man Ivan Perisic is all set to complete a return to his former club Hajduk Split in the ongoing transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Hajduk Split are close to acquiring the services of Ivan Perisic. The 34-year-old is keen on returning to his former club, and Tottenham Hotspur are willing to sanction his departure as he is no longer that important a part of their first team.

The Ivan Perisic Tale

Ivan Perisic joined Hajduk Split in 1995 and was a part of their youth ranks until 2006. The Croatian international went up the ranks at the club and made quite a name for himself. His impressive performances for the Croatian club’s Under-17 team earned him a move to French club FC Sochaux, and he has not looked back since.

The 34-year-old has had an illustrious career where he has played for the likes of Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund amongst others. He left Inter to join Tottenham in the summer of 2022 and has since featured in a total of 50 matches while contributing towards 15 goals.

He was an integral part of their first team last season. The 34-year-old was used in multiple positions, and he racked up close to 3,000 minutes. But, things have changed in the ongoing season. He could only feature in six matches and rack up 169 minutes in total before getting injured.

Perisic is still out injured, and his contract with the North London club runs out after the end of the season. Tottenham have no plans of extending his stay at the club and with the veteran utility man out injured, they are willing to sanction his exit in the ongoing window.

Where Next?

The 34-year-old’s childhood club, Hajduk Split, want to bring him back to Croatia, and the player is keen on returning. He wants to return there and make history for his club. And, Tottenham have no intentions of standing in his way. According to Romano, they are willing to accept a loan move until the end of the season.

While no other details of the transfer have been mentioned, Perisic’s comeback to his childhood club is advancing at some pace. It is in the final stages and if things go according to plan, the 34-year-old will complete the move in the near future.
