Aston Villa have failed with an attempt to acquire the services of 21-year-old Middlesbrough winger Morgan Rogers.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa are keen on bolstering their attack in the ongoing transfer window, and Morgan Rogers is a priority transfer target for them. The Villans submitted an offer to sign the Middlesbrough winger but the offer has been turned down as per The Guardian.
Who is Morgan Rogers?
Morgan Rogers has been doing wonders for Michael Carrick’s team, and his impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed. While there are multiple clubs interested in his services, Aston Villa seem to be the biggest admirer of the 21-year-old winger.
The Boro winger was a part of the West Brom youth ranks before joining Manchester City in the summer of 2019. He never really went up the ranks at City and was often out on loan. After loan spells at Lincoln, Bournemouth and Blackpool, the 21-year-old ended up joining Middlesbrough before the start of the ongoing season.
Rogers has gone from strength to strength since making the move. He has featured in a total of 31 matches in all competitions and has even contributed towards 14 goals. His consistent performances and the ability to feature on both flanks as well as a striker have resulted in a lot of interest.
Aston Villa Want Morgan Rogers
Aston Villa are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks. Villa are quite impressed with what they have seen from the 21-year-old. He had an impressive outing against them in the FA Cup earlier this month, and that match has played a huge part in the Premier League club making him their priority target for the winter window.
Villa have been looking for a new winger since last summer. They have been linked with multiple forwards, including Crysencio Summerville. But nothing has worked out yet. However, it seems they are desperate to have the Boro winger in their ranks. They have submitted their first official offer this week. But, that bid has been rejected.
Their first proposal might have been rebuffed, but Aston Villa still have a chance and are expected to return with another bid. However, they will have to rush as the window closes in less than two weeks.
