Manchester United will not be making a move for the services of the 36-year-old Al-Ittihad striker Karim Benzema.

According to a report by The Mirror, Manchester United have ruled out the possibility of signing Karim Benzema. The 36-year-old is reportedly unhappy at Al-Ittihad and is looking to leave Saudi Arabia in the ongoing transfer window. While the Red Devils have been linked with the former Real Madrid skipper, they have decided against making a move.

Karim Benzema and his Al-Ittihad Frustrations

Karim Benzema joined Al-Ittihad six months ago. He ended his 14-year-long successful stint with Real Madrid last summer. During his time at the Spanish club, the former French international scored a truckload of goals and won numerous trophies. He lifted the Champions League five times and even won the Ballon d’Or once.

While he could have continued in Spain, Benzema decided to be a part of the Saudi Arabian football revolution. Just like his former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, the 36-year-old took on the opportunity to earn millions and help football in the Middle East grow. But, things have not gone according to plan for the French striker.

He has done a great job on the field with 12 goals in his 20 appearances for Al-Ittihad. But, irrespective of his performances, he is not happy in that part of the world and wants to return to Europe. Benzema has fallen out with manager Marcelo Gallardo after failing to return to training camp in time.

The squad travelled to Dubai without their star striker, and Gallardo has warned the former Real Madrid striker that he is not welcome to join up with the squad. The 36-year-old is now facing an uncertain future and he wants to return to Europe amid links with Chelsea and others.

Benzema to Return to Europe Soon?

Manchester United are one of the clubs linked with the former French international. The Red Devils have struggled in front of goal this season despite having Marcus Rashford in their ranks and signing Rasmus Hojlund in a big-money move.

They are one of the lowest-scoring teams in the English top flight this season, with 24 goals in 21 outings. As a result, they would love to have a new number nine. But, Manchester United will still not be making a move for Benzema, and they have not approached his representatives because of his age and his lofty wages.

Manchester United are restricted to only loan moves in the ongoing window because of Financial Fair Play regulations, and they are looking to bring in a striker on loan to help their cause. Signing Benzema even on loan is not an option for the Red Devils.
