Liverpool, Barcelona eyeing summer move for Douglas Luiz

Liverpool and Barcelona could contest Arsenal for Douglas Luiz’s signature in the summer as Aston Villa faces a big fight.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool and Barcelona are firmly in the race to sign Douglas Luiz. The 25-year-old Arsenal target has numerous clubs chasing him, as Aston Villa could have a big fight on their hands to keep hold of the midfielder.

Liverpool, Barcelona enters Douglas Luiz race

Douglas Luiz has proved himself as one of the best performers in this season’s Premier League. The Brazilian star has helped Aston Villa mount an unlikely title push and remains one of their standoff stars. Hence, the club are reluctant to sell him this month, although a summer sale could become a possibility.

Liverpool are ready to rival Arsenal for the Brazilian, as Jurgen Klopp wants a long-term holding midfielder in his ranks. Summer arrival Alexis Mac Allister has played there this term, but that’s not the Argentine’s most effective position.

Barcelona also had an interest before and admired the 25-year-old Arsenal target greatly. They might consider making a move in the summer, but any chance of them signing him will depend on their financial condition to please Aston Villa with a bid.

Aston Villa have a big summer fight to keep Luiz

Aston Villa are a progressive side ready to break into the top four. Unai Emery considers Luiz a key performer in his system and will want to keep him here at all costs. Arsenal have already delayed their pursuit until the summer, while others are trying to turn the midfielder’s head away from Villa Park,

Villa might end up keeping him now, but he may struggle to stand firm during the summer. Luiz will have two years left on his deal, as the Birmiongham-based club might look to cash in. The Brazilian will have numerous clubs chasing his signature, with Villa likely to demand a premium price to sell him.

With Liverpool and Barcelona already in the race, Arsenal may feel they might have the upper hand, potentially due to their previous pursuit of the midfielder. However, Klopp will put his best foot forward to lure the Brazilian into a role his side lacks at the moment.
