Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park, with Arsenal mentioned as a potential destination.

According to Give Me Sport, Amadou Onana is open to a move to Arsenal. But it seems unlikely that a deal will go through this month. The 22-year-old is also a target for Manchester United. Everton paid £33 million for the midfielder when they signed him and will demand in excess of £50 million for him.

Can Arsenal Sign Amadou Onana in January?

Arsenal might not be able to afford paying over £50 million midway through the season. They already spent substantial amounts of money during the summer transfer window and will need to comply with the Financial Fair Play regulations as well. In addition, Everton will not want to jeopardise their chances of securing safety from relegation by selling a key player in January.

Onana would be a solid long-term acquisition for Arsenal, and he could be the ideal long-term partner for Declan Rice at the heart of their midfield. He will add defensive cover to the side and protect the defensive unit. His arrival will allow the creative players to operate with more freedom and help Arsenal tighten up defensively.

The 22-year-old is a prodigious talent with a big future ahead of him, and he will want to play for the biggest clubs in the world. Arsenal certainly fall in that category, as they are currently pushing for the league title. The opportunity to play for them will be an attractive proposition for most players. So, it is no surprise that Onana is open to a move to the Emirates.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal can get a deal done for him at the end of the season. The Gunners need to sign quality young players like him if they want to compete towards the top end of the table every season.

The Belgian certainly has the potential to compete at the highest level and he will look to make his mark in the Champions league with Arsenal if the transfer goes through. He has been linked with Manchester United as well.

The Red Devils could use a quality long-term alternative to Sofyan Amrabat. In addition, Casemiro is on the wrong side of 30 and showing signs of age catching up to him. So, Onana would be a superb addition. But with the Belgian international open to joining Arsenal, Manchester United have a tall order to land him.
