West Ham United reportedly want to sign 23-year-old Arsenal and Liverpool target Jeremie Frimpong in the ongoing transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, West Ham United are keen on having Jeremie Frimpong in their ranks. The Hammers want to further bolster their defence, and they are willing to go all out for the services of the 23-year-old Bayer Leverkusen full-back. The player is also a target for Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Jeremie Frimpong Story
Frimpong was a part of the Manchester City youth ranks back in the day. He failed to break into their first team and ended his nine-year-long stay at the club in the summer of 2019 to join Scottish club Celtic.
The 23-year-old went from strength to strength during his time at Celtic, and he even helped them win the domestic treble. After making a name for himself at the Scottish club, he joined Bayer Leverkusen in the winter of 2021.
Since joining the Bundesliga club, he has featured in a total of 118 matches and has contributed towards 48 goals. Frimpong has been on fire of late. He has featured in 23 matches in the ongoing season and has contributed towards 17.
The right-back has scored seven times and has assisted his teammates on 10 occasions. Frimpong’s incredible run has not gone unnoticed, and there are quite a few clubs pushing for his services.
A Man in Demand
Arsenal are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks. While Mikel Arteta is quite happy with the performance of his right-backs, he is still on the lookout for an attacking right-back who can further strengthen his team. The Gunners are convinced that the 23-year-old can help their cause.
Meanwhile, Liverpool also also exploring the possibility of signing the Dutch international in the ongoing transfer window. While they do not really need another right-back, his arrival will surely provide Jurgen Klopp with numerous options and he could push Trent Alexander-Arnold into the centre of the park.
While Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in his services, West Ham United are looking to beat both clubs in the race for his signature. The Hammers are looking to win the race as they feel he is an ideal fit for David Moyes’s system. The manager is looking for a right-sided full back, and they feel investing in the 23-year-old could do wonders.
However, it won’t be easy to prise him away from Bayer Leverkusen. The German club have been on an incredible run and their currently top of the Bundesliga. Xabi Alonso is expected to push for the league title all out, and Frimpong is key to his chances. As a result, convincing them to sanction his sale mid-season might not be easy at all.
