Newcastle United open to selling Bruno Guimaraes to Barcelona or Real Madrid for less than his release clause

Bruno Guimaraes, a target for Liverpool, can join Barcelona or Real Madrid for less than his release clause of £100 million.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Bruno Guimaraes is the subject of interest from Liverpool. Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested in signing the Newcastle United talisman. And the two La Liga heavyweights, his dream clubs, can sign him for less than £100 million, the value of his release clause.

The Rise and Rise of Bruno Guimaraes

Bruno Guimaraes has gone from strength to strength since arriving in Europe. His first European foray came when he joined Lyon from Athletico Paranaense in January 2020. But the Brazilian international has seen his stock skyrocket since moving to Newcastle United in January 2022.

The 26-year-old helped transform the Magpies from a relegation-battling side to a top-four team. He has turned out 86 times thus far for Newcastle United, chipping in with 11 goals and nine assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress at the Tyneside club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of high-profile clubs like Liverpool, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.

A Man in Demand

Liverpool’s interest in Bruno Guimaraes dates back to the summer transfer window. The Reds want a holding midfielder to complete their midfield unit. That will help liberate Alexis Mac Allister to play a more advanced role. The Newcastle United talisman is thus a viable target for Liverpool.

As for Barcelona, the reigning La Liga champions are in the market for a defensive midfielder as they search for a long-term successor to Sergio Busquets. The Newcastle United star is thus an option worth considering. But Barcelona’s financial issues mean they cannot afford to trigger his release clause of £100 million and will target a part-exchange deal to sign him.

Bruno Guimaraes is also a target for Real Madrid, who wanted to sign him in the summer transfer window. But Los Blancos’ interest in the Brazilian international is hardly surprising, considering he can play as a more advanced midfielder. And the report by Football Transfers has claimed that Barcelona and Real Madrid can sign him for less than £100 million.

Newcastle United are ready to part ways with the 26-year-old for less than his release clause of £100 million. But Liverpool and other suitors will have to trigger the clause to secure his services. So, it will be interesting to see where Guimaraes lands if and when he leaves Newcastle.
