Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are interested in acquiring the services of the 17-year-old Barcelona target Lucas Bergvall.

According to Shields Gazette, Newcastle United are keen on having Lucas Bergvall in their ranks. The Magpies have been on the lookout for young players with huge potential since their takeover, and the 17-year-old Swedish sensation seems to be a perfect fit for the club.

Who is Lucas Bergvall?

Bergvall is considered to be one of the biggest prospects of Swedish football. The 17-year-old has made quite a name for himself, and he’s on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in world football. Despite being just 17, he has already had his taste of senior football and seems prepared to have an exceptional career.

The teenager is currently a part of Swedish club Djurgardens IF. He came through the rank at Brommapojkarna before making the move to Djurgardens at the start of 2023. He has since featured in a total of 29 matches for the Swedish club and has contributed towards four goals.

Lucas Bergvall in High Demand

His impressive performances and huge potential have not gone unnoticed. Barcelona are one of the clubs interested in his services. The Catalan giants are always on the lookout for players to further strengthen them, and they feel the 17-year-old could help them in the long run. As a result, they have been in talks with the Swedish club.

Djurgardens’ Sporting Director Bo Anderson has confirmed that they have been in talks with Barcelona since December. The negotiations might not be underway yet but Barcelona are very much interested.

The Catalan giants might be struggling financially, but it won’t cost a fortune to sign the 17-year-old. And, the pull of La Masia will surely make Newcastle United’s life difficult as they look to acquire Bergvall’s services.

The Magpies want to sign the Barcelona target as they believe the teenager can go on to become a special player. He has shown great signs of promise early on in his career, and Newcastle United do not intend to miss out on him. They have the financial strength to battle it out against the Spanish giants. But, it won’t be easy given the kind of pull Xavi’s team has.
