Tottenham and Everton battle for Adam Wharton

Adam Wharton has made a big name at Blackburn Rovers as he continues his impressive performances. He is close to hitting 50 first-team appearances for the club, as they have already tied him up with a new contract until 2028, which he signed last month.

The decision of the new contract gives Blackburn Rovers the upper hand in negotiations with suitors, as they are unlikely to sell him at least in January. Wharton has attracted massive interest, with Tottenham Hotspur and Everton keen.

Spurs chiefs have identified the 19-year-old English midfield prodigy as a potential future star. But they will have to pay top dollar to prise him away from Blackburn Rovers. Ange Postecoglou remains open to adding more young and promising players to their ranks, and Adam Wharton could be one.

Crystal Palace have also held an interest. But Everton are now one of the clubs keeping close tabs on the teenage sensation. The Merseyside club are eager to find a way to lock the 19-year-old English midfield prodigy. But in the January transfer window, they will face difficulty from Blackburn Rovers and due to their finances.

Tottenham and Everton’s transfer plans for January

The North London side is eager to bring in key players. But they have already faced problems bringing primary defensive target Radu Dragusin. They are also chasing an attacker, but a midfielder might also come into their thinking if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg decides to leave this month.

Meanwhile, Everton are also looking to do deals. But they have restrictions with finances and other things. There are rumours about Harrison Reed, but they could also lose Amadou Onana as Arsenal are holding talks with the Toffees.

Everton! The perennial ‘interested party’ in transfer deals but never actually bid for any of ’em? They seem to think that they are doing lower league clubs a favour by declaring an interest, why not stop wasting everyone’s time and unsettling players if you have no other interest other than bigging yourselves up in the media?
