Eric Dier has made up his mind about joining Bayern Munich in January after the German giants rekindled their interest.
Football Insider insists Eric Dier is sure to leave Tottenham this month and that the 29-year-old has made up his mind about joining Bayern Munich. Thomas Tuchel seeks a new defender in January and could have rekindled his interest in the beleaguered Spurs man.
Eric Dier insistent on Bayern Munich’s move?
As per the report, Eric Dier wants to join Bayern Munich this month as he has no future at Spurs. The defender has been frozen out of Ange Postecoglou’s plans for the season as the Australian manager continued to select full-backs for central roles amid an injury crisis and the 29-year-old Tottenham star’s availability.
Tottenham were giving out mixed signals about Dier’s potential departure in January as they were prepared to keep him at one stage. In any case, the 29-year-old’s contract expires in the summer when he could walk away on a free transfer, but Spurs are now open to a sale for even a nominal price.
Bayern Munich held an interest in the summer but could not find any breakthrough. They may have rekindled their chase of the 29-year-old Tottenham star, who also has West Ham’s admiration. In any case, Dier has reportedly made up his mind about joining the Bavarians if they came through with an offer.
The move will see him reunite with long-term Spurs teammate Harry Kane, who made the move during the summer. Dier does appear to want a new chapter in his career and seems willing to play in a different league, such as the Bundesliga.
Tottenham will sell after signing a replacement.
Tottenham are now open to selling Dier to another team, but they will only sanction a deal after signing a replacement. There are heavy links to Radu Dragusin, with Spurs reportedly ready to make a second bid, which may come close to Genoa’s 30 million asking price.
Napoli have entered the chase for the Genoa defender, and as per reports, they are seriously threatening to derail Tottenham’s pursuit of Dragusin. There are other stars like Jean-Clair Todibo on Spurs’ shortlist if they fail to sign the Romanian defender, but Postecoglou will hope that’s not the case.
Once they find a viable defender to bring into the team, Spurs will sanction Dier’s departure. For now, only media reports have stated Bayern’s interest and that the 29-year-old Tottenham star wants them as well, but no offers have been made yet.
