Manchester United defender Alvaro Fernandez, currently on loan at Granada, has been linked with Portuguese club Benfica.

According to a report from Record via Sport Witness, Benfica are keen on signing Alvaro Fernandez in January. The latest update has revealed that the Portuguese giants view the 20-year-old Manchester United loanee as their priority target.

Alvaro Fernandez Looking for Stability

The talented young left-back is currently on loan at Spanish club Granada, but he has not been a regular starter for them. If Benfica can give him game-time assurances, the youngster will be tempted to join them.

Alvaro Fernandez needs to play regularly at this stage of his career, and a fresh move in January could be ideal for him. He will be hoping to get his career back on track soon. Benfica might offer him a way out this month.

Benfica have a proven track record of nurturing talented young players into established first-team stars, and they could help Fernandez fulfil his tremendous potential. Meanwhile, the 20-year-old does not have a future at Manchester United right now, and it will not be a surprise if the Red Devils decided to cash in on him.

A New Adventure at Benfica Beckons

It will make sense for them to sell the player and invest the proceeds odd new signings. Given his situation at Manchester United and Granada, Benfica will hope to sign Alvaro Fernandez for a knockdown price this month.

There is no doubt that Alvaro Fernandez is a talented young player with a bright future ahead of him, and he could develop into a quality left-back with the right coaching and guidance. A move to Benfica would be an exciting opportunity for him at this stage of his career, and he can take heart from Alejandro Balde’s trajectory at the Portuguese club.

Leaving a club like Manchester United can be difficult for young players. But the 20-year-old needs to focus on his development for now. He needs ample first-team action in order to develop as a player. If he manages to impress at Benfica, he will have plenty of opportunities to join big clubs in the near future.
