Tottenham are reportedly looking to sign 21-year-old Romanian defender Radu Dragusin from Genoa this week.
A report from Give Me Sport has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to agree on a deal to sign Radu Dragusin this week. The Romanian defender has a price tag of £26 million.
Radu Dragusin in Demand
Radu Dragusin has established himself as a key performer for Serie A club Genoa, and his displays have attracted the attention of Tottenham. The North London outfit are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements, and Dragusin could prove to be a quality long-term addition for them.
Spurs are already lacking in depth when it comes to the central defensive department, with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are sidelined with injuries. In addition, Eric Dier is expected to leave the club in January.
Tottenham will need to sign more than just one central defender in the coming weeks, and it appears that Dragusin is their priority target for now. They have been linked with players like Jean-Clair Todibo as well.
The 21-year-old Romanian defender has the physical and technical attributes to adjust to English football, and he could be a key player for Tottenham in the coming seasons. There is no doubt that he is a prodigious talent with a bright future ahead of him. And the North Londoners would do well to secure his services. Signing him for £26 million would represent a bargain in the long run.
Premier League Calling?
Moving to the Premier League would be an exciting new adventure in the defender’s career, and it would be a step up for him. He will look to compete at a higher level and win trophies with Tottenham in the coming seasons.
Tottenham will hope to get back into the UEFA Champions League by the end of the season, and they will need to plug the weaknesses in their squad for that to happen. Signing a defender will help them tighten up defensively and finish the season strongly.
Agreeing on personal terms with the player is not a problem for the North London club and, it remains to be seen whether they can thrash out an agreement with Genoa now.
