Liverpool and Tottenham are among the teams keen on Manu Kone, with the midfielder seen as a solid acquisition for the Premier League sides.
According to Rudy Galetti, Liverpool and Tottenham could target a move for Manu Kone, who has plenty of other suitors ahead of January. The midfielder could not get his big move back in the summer but could leave Borussia Monchengladbach next month.
Liverpool is interested in Manu Kone.
Many top clubs are looking for a high-quality central midfielder in January, as they could turn their attention towards a certain Manu Kone. The 22-year-old Frenchman had heavy interest back in the summer from Premier League clubs, but an injury then could have scuppered those chances of leaving Germany.
Borussia Monchengladbach was open to a sale at the right price back in the summer, as Liverpool held an interest in Kone and Khephren Thuram. Jurgen Klopp might refocus on the Bundesliga midfielder and see whether he fits his renewed style in the middle.
While Liverpool held an interest in the summer, they eventually ended up signing Ryan Gravenberch in the profile of Kone. Hence, there might be doubts whether Klopp would want to spend big on another similar midfielder, as he might have other priorities, notably in defence.
However, Kone remains a player of interest for the club, although Klopp has other targets in mind as well. Yet, if an opportunity comes by, they might think about the 22-year-old Frenchman, especially if the price is right.
Tottenham are looking at Manu Kone.
Compared to Liverpool, Tottenham may have a more pressing need for a new midfielder ahead of the January window. Ange Postecoglou will lose critical stars Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr for a brief period, while there are uncertainties about Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s immediate future at the club.
Hence, Postecoglou may target a move for a quality midfielder who can fit into his plans for the long-term future. Kone certainly can be that player, but the 22-year-old Frenchman will have plenty of options to evaluate before thinking about Spurs’ interest.
PSG are keen, and Kone might think about a return to France at this stage. However, back in the summer, he had shown inclination towards the Premier League, and that might affect his plans next month.
