Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to submit a bid to Ajax to snap up promising midfielder Stanis Idumbo Muzambo, who is set to leave the Dutch giants in the upcoming January transfer window.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are one of the two teams set to make an offer for Ajax sensation Stanis Idumbo-Muzambo, who has made up his mind to leave and will turn down any contract offers from the Dutch giants.
The Belgium Under-19 international has yet to make a senior appearance for Ajax, but the 18-year-old attacking midfielder has built quite a reputation while playing for the reserve side, having netted 13 goals and produced 17 assists in 33 appearances.
He is now being tipped to be on the move in 2024. Spurs have been tracking him lately. His contract with Ajax expires at the end of the season, and Romano has confirmed that the youngster has decided to turn down any fresh contract offers from the faltering Dutch giants.
This puts Tottenham in an excellent position to land his signature, as they now look set to offer the 18-year-old a proposal to tempt him to north London in January. Exactly how much the Lilywhites’ would have to fork out to sign him has not been stated, but the fee shouldn’t be too massive.
As per a recent report from Belgian outlet DH, Tottenham may give Idumbo Muzambo the chance to prove himself in their first team straight away from January before deciding if they should loan him out or not next summer.
Primarily a central attacking midfielder, he can also play on the left or right-hand side. In that department, Ange Postecoglou’s side are currently missing Ivan Perisic, Giovani Lo Celso, and Manor Solomon due to injuries, so it makes sense to keep him around for a while.
The north Londoners are trying to build an exciting project for the long term after a promising start to the Postecoglou era and have found some real gems in terms of signing talented prospects in recent years, with the likes of Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie becoming established first-team stars after loan spells away from the club. Idumbo-Muzambo appears to be in the same boat.
It must be noted that Spurs’ are not alone in their pursuit of Muzambo, with La Liga side Sevilla also looking to prize the attacking midfielder away from the Netherlands, while AS Monaco have also been linked with the teenager.
It certainly seems like Muzambo will have plenty of admirers, and it remains to be seen who will offer a better pathway into the first team as well as make the most lucrative proposal for the teenage prodigy.
