Tottenham could cool their interest in Tosin Adarabioyo as Ange Postecoglou has other targets in mind ahead of the January transfer window.

Football Insider has claimed that Tottenham are no longer considering a move for Tosin Adarabioyo, with Ange Postecoglou ready to shift focus on alternatives. The 26-year-old defender will enter the final six months of his Fulham deal in January, which could have allowed clubs to swoop in on the cheap.

Tosin Adarabioyo: What is His Situation At Fulham?

Fulham had hoped to find an agreement with Tosin Adarabioyo over a new deal and see him play there during his best years as a defender. The Premier League club triggered a one-year extension in his deal last January, but so far, they haven’t found a breakthrough.

Adarabioyo could leave as a free agent next summer, as he could have multiple choices in that scenario. Fulham are reportedly still trying to convince him. But with interest mounting, the chances are slim to none for the Cottagers.

The Tottenham Links

Tottenham had plans to sign Adarabioyo in January, considering they could have acquired him on the cheap. Spurs desperately need a new defender at the back as they are short of options following Micky van de Ven’s injury. Even when the Dutchman returns in January, they will need quality depth to fill in or rotate when necessary.

Now, the report states Tottenham are cooling their interest in the 26-year-old Premier League defender as Ange Postecoglou considers other targets in his place. Those might include Jean-Clair Todibo, with Spurs holding tentative talks with OGC Nice ahead of a potential January move.

The Frenchman would cost a considerable sum for their liking. But Postecoglou may have liked his profile and how he fits into Tottenham’s new system. Similarly, Adarabioyo might also fit in and has plenty of experience in English football, especially the Premier League.

Yet, there are complications about his future, as the 26-year-old also has interest from overseas sides like AS Monaco. So, with Adarabioyo free to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England, Spurs might have a feeling he has agreed on a move elsewhere.

Otherwise, Tosin Adarabioyo is the kind of option that would suit Tottenham in the sporting and financial sense. However, for now, they are ready to cool their interest and move on.
