Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

A report from Daily Mail claims that Arsenal recruitment staff rate the 22-year-old midfielder very highly and it remains to be seen whether they decide to make a move for him in the coming months.

Ramsey has shown his quality in glimpses with the West Midlands club and he will want to play regularly in the coming months. It is doubtful that he will be able to hold down a regular starting spot at Aston Villa and might need to leave to play more often.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal are prepared to provide him with that opportunity. They could certainly use a quality central midfielder and Ramsey will add creativity and control to the side. He is versatile enough to operate as a central midfielder as well as a winger. He will add technical ability and flair in the middle of the park as well.

The 30-year-old Ghana international Thomas Partey has been linked with a move away from Arsenal recently and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners decide to cash on him next month.

Partey has had his fair share of injury problems and Arsenal need to invest in a midfielder with more availability. The 22-year-old Aston Villa midfielder could develop into a key player for them with the right coaching and experience. He could prove to be a solid, long-term investment.

Mikel Arteta has done well to nurture the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard into top-class Premier League stars over the past year. Ramsey will feel that the Spanish manager could help him fulfil his potential potential as well.

He is clearly not going to get ample gametime at Aston Villa right now, and if Arsenal can promise him more first-team action, the transfer will be quite attractive to him. The 22-year-old is a prodigious talent with a big future ahead of him and he cannot afford to sit on the bench at Villa Park every week.

Jacob Ramsey was probably Villa’s best player last season under Emery and would have been a permanent fixture this season but for an injury. They’re reintroducing him into the playing squad. He would cost well over £50m. Villa aren’t stupid, they know how good he is. This is a made-up non-starter of a story.
