Tottenham have enquired about the availability of Felipe Anderson as they might look to take advantage of his contract situation.
According to Italian outlet TV Play, Tottenham are keen on Felipe Anderson and could plot a move to bring the attacker back to the Premier League. The 30-year-old Brazilian playmaker continues to have doubts about a new deal at Lazio, which could force the Rome-based club to consider his future.
There’s an apparent furore in the background with talks of a rift between Felipe Anderson and Lazio chief Claudio Lotito. Despite claims that a new contract was verbally agreed upon, the 30-year-old Brazilian playmaker has not signed fresh terms yet.
Rumours have gathered fast around the Brazilian’s immediate future at Lazio, with teams like AC Milan and Juventus ready to pounce. The latter are only willing to sign him next summer, while Milan may not be able to afford him on Lazio’s asking price.
On the other hand, Tottenham have also enquired about Anderson after understanding his situation at Lazio. Whether Spurs are serious about bringing the 30-year-old Brazilian playmaker back to the Premier League remains a question, but they are in the market for a creative player.
The latter notion extends to bringing someone to compete with a James Maddison or simply strengthening their attacking options. For his part, Anderson likes to play out wide from the right-hand side but is equally capable of taking up any front three positions.
He has scored once and assisted five times in Serie A this season, as Lazio collectively continue to struggle on all fronts. They did manage to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League. But Anderson’s contract situation could have a more significant say in proceedings.
Spurs are also in the Italian market for players, with Samuel Iling-Junior of Juventus being one of their reported targets for January. Whether they are willing to extend their search and look closely at Anderson remains the question. But the Brazilian’s performances have been encouraging since leaving West Ham four years ago.
For now, Spurs appear to have only enquired and asked about conditions for a deal. A cut-price move in January remains possible, considering the 30-year-old Brazilian playmaker’s contract ends in the summer. Unless Lazio agrees on a new deal, he might leave next month, something the club and their fans would not want.
