Real Madrid will reportedly prioritise signing Erling Haaland from Premier League champions Manchester City next year.
According to Pacojo Delgado on SER Deportivos, Erling Haaland is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues view the Manchester City goal machine as their priority target for the 2024 summer transfer window. In addition, they are in regular contact with the Norwegian international.
Erling Haaland and the Rise of a Goal Machine
Erling Haaland has set the stage alight since bursting into the limelight nearly half a dozen years ago. The 23-year-old rose to prominence during his short spell with Red Bull Salzburg before earning a move to Borussia Dortmund. He scored at a rate of nearly a goal per game in 89 outings at Signal Iduna Park while also providing 23 assists.
Premier League champions Manchester City came calling last year, triggering his release clause. And the move has worked wonders, with the Norwegian international scoring goals for fun at the Etihad. He played a leading role as Manchester City won the treble in the 2022/23 season.
While Haaland’s performance levels have dropped slightly this term, he still has an excellent tally of 19 goals and five assists in 22 appearances across all competitions thus far. Meanwhile, the youngster has been on the radar of every high-profile club for many years, with Real Madrid keen on signing him next summer.
Real Madrid Calling?
The former Borussia Dortmund striker has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time, with Los Blancos viewing him as an alternative to Kylian Mbappe. With recent reports claiming that Real Madrid will not pursue Mbappe’s signature next year, Haaland’s name has jumped to the top of the wishlist at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The report by Pacojo Delgado has claimed that the Merengues are in constant contact with Haaland’s camp over a possible move in the 2024 summer transfer window. The Manchester City striker is Real Madrid’s priority target for next year, which makes sense, considering they did not replace Karim Benzema this past summer.
But Manchester City will unlikely entertain offers for Haaland, and the Premier League champions want to tie him to a new contract. So unless the 23-year-old pushes for a move, a deal with Real Madrid will not materialise in the 2024 summer transfer window.
