Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are interested in bringing the former Liverpool star Sadio Mane back to the Premier League.

According to a report by Fichajes, Newcastle United could look to bring back Sadio Mane to England in the upcoming winter transfer window. The Magpies are keen on reinforcing their squad next month but they have financial restrictions and are looking to loan in players from the Middle East.

While the Magpies have been doing decent in the ongoing season, they haven’t been able to reach the levels they did last season. And, one of the reasons for their inconsistency this time out has been the number of injuries and lack of depth. They have 12 first-team players out injured while Sandro Tonali has been handed a long ban for illegal betting.

Eddie Howe is keen on reinforcement in the upcoming window but the Magpies have financial restrictions. They are close to their Financial Fair Play limit and have a limited budget to make new signings. As a result, they might look to take advantage of their links with Saudi Arabia clubs.

Saudi Public Investment Fund owns Newcastle and they also own several clubs in the Middle East. And, with Premier League clubs voting against a potential ban on transfers between associated clubs, the Magpies are allowed to sign stars who have recently joined, Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad or Al-Ahli.

While they have been linked with multiple players from the Middle East, Sadio Mane is one of the most recent names that has emerged. According to the report, Newcastle are considering bringing the former Liverpool star back to the Premier League.

Mane is just 31 and he still has a lot of football left in him. His consistent performance in the Saudi Pro League suggests he could still be a handful in the English top flight. He has years of experience playing and winning in England and could be a great signing for Howe’s team.

The former Liverpool winger will add goals, creativity and experience to their ranks. His arrival could boost the morale of others around him and the Magpies might be able to fulfil their expectations for this season. But, it will be interesting to see if he is ready to leave Al-Nassr just months after joining them and whether the Saudi club agrees to this potential loan deal.
