Tottenham, Newcastle in the race to sign Samuel Iling-Junior

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are all set to battle it out for the services of 20-year-old Juventus forward Samuel Iling-Junior.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are both keen on having Samuel Iling-Junior in their ranks. The 20-year-old is expected to part ways with Juventus in the upcoming transfer window and he could end up joining a Premier League club.

Iling-Junior was a part of the Chelsea youth setup before he made a move to Juventus in 2020 when he was just 16. He then went up the ranks and made it to the Juventus first team towards the end of 2022. While he is considered to be a huge prospect for the future, the 20-year-old is not getting enough game time at the Turin-based club.

In the ongoing season, he has featured in a total of four matches in the league and all of them were appearances off the bench. Massimiliano Allegri is not able to extract the best out of the England youth international as he doesn’t seem to be the kind of winger he wants in his setup.

With the 20-year-old Surplus to requirements and Juventus struggling financially, the Old Lady will look to cash in on him in the winter for around £15 million and then re-invest it to sign a new midfielder.

Iling-Junior has been on the radar of quite a few clubs for a while now and with Juventus ready to sell, a lot of clubs will square up against each other for his signatures. Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks.

Spurs are aware of the fact that they lack depth. Recent injuries to their forwards have seen them struggle, as a result, they are looking to sign the 20-year-old. The England youth international might prefer playing on the left flank but he can even feature in the centre of the park if needed.

According to the report, Spurs are leading the race for his signatures but there are other clubs who could challenge them. Newcastle have also been linked with the Juventus winger. The Magpies have targeted young homegrown players of late and Iling-Junior could be a perfect fit for their plans. He could help them for years to come and has all the qualities needed to fit into Eddie Howe’s system.
