Manchester United ready to pay a premium for Jean-Clair Todibo

Manchester United are ready to break the bank to acquire the services of 23-year-old OGC Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo.

According to SPORT via SportWitness, Manchester United are keen on reinforcing their defence in the upcoming winter transfer window and they have their eyes set on Jean-Clair Todibo. The 23-year-old has been a consistent performer for OGC Nice and the Red Devils are willing to spend a fortune to land him at the club.

Todibo was a part of Barcelona back in the day but things didn’t work out for him there. He joined OGC Nice in the winter of 2021 on a short loan. The 23-year-old managed to impress the people at the club during his short stint and the move was made permanent in the summer of that year.

He has gone from strength to strength since joining the French club and has featured in a total of 115 matches for the club. His impressive and consistent performances have also earned him two caps for the French national team.

Todibo has revived himself in some fashion and his efforts have attracted a lot of attention from across Europe. Manchester United are one of the clubs that have been linked with the 23-year-old for a while now. They were interested back in the summer and could return for him in the winter.

The Red Devils are struggling in the ongoing season and one of the major reasons could be the number of injuries that their defenders have picked. The injury crisis has made them realise the need for defensive reinforcement and they are ready to invest in a new centre-back.

Erik ten Hag as well as people at the club are admirers of the 23-year-old and would love to have him in their ranks. As a result, they are ready to fork out a significant sum to acquire his services. According to the report, he is valued at around €50 million and Nice will most likely ask for more than that.

While the price tag could big a hurdle for now, the Red Devils are willing to go big on him. The potential transfer will also help Barcelona financially as they will 20% of the fee from his sale.
