Liverpool are one of the significant sides keen on RB Leipzig’s impressive striker Lois Openda, but signing him will prove complex.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool are firmly interested in signing Lois Openda. Jurgen Klopp could target a new striker in the coming windows, although a move for the 23-year-old Bundesliga forward may not happen in January.
Lois Openda was a catalyst for RC Lens last season; without him, the French side have found it challenging. They sold him to RB Leipzig and brought in Elye Wahi, but they lacked the Belgian’s presence up front.
The Belgian has taken the Bundesliga by storm, with nine goals already in his bag. He has also been a solid marksman in the Champions League for them. Openda illustrated his talent with a stellar showing in Tuesday night’s narrow loss to Manchester City.
The young Bundesliga forward’s early performances have caught the attention of several top clubs. 13 goals in all competitions have proved enough for some of the big Premier League sides to make enquiries, but, Leipzig are not keen on a January sale.

Arsenal are also interested, with Mikel Arteta keen on a new striker next summer. Similarly, Chelsea, who need a new No.9, may have also enquired about the 23-year-old forward.
Manchester United are also in the chase, with Erik ten Hag keen on signing a new striker to complement and compete with Rasmus Hojlund. Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has now mentioned Liverpool as a contender for Openda. Jurgen Klopp might seek another quality name to add to his front line.
Liverpool have one of the best-attacking setups on the continent, let alone in English football, and still, some may seem baffled at the thought of adding to that. The only blip in their roster could be Darwin Nunez, who has a fair record but still has enormous chances in crucial games.
Klopp may consider signing Openda or another striker like Victor Osimhen if an opportunity arrives. But it might not be easy to sign the 23-year-old Bundesliga forward because of the money. Fabrizio Romano said his contract has a release clause worth €80 million, but it only starts in 2025.
Hence, for any club to sign Openda before that, they may have to pay a premium. Leipzig would demand a considerable fee, potentially over €100 million. For now, he’s the Bundesliga side’s prized asset. They will extract the best possible value in a market lacking quality strikers.
