West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Fulham have received a major setback in their pursuit of former Chelsea forward Timo Werner.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Fulham are all interested in the services of Timo Werner. All three clubs want to bolster their attack in the short term and have their eyes set on the 27-year-old. But, they seemed to have received a major blow as Werner is not keen on a return to the Premier League
The German international came through the ranks at VfB Stuttgart before joining RB Leipzig in the summer of 2016. After four impressive seasons with the German club, Chelsea acquired his services in the summer of 2020. The Blues triggered his release clause worth £47.5 million to land him at the club.
During his time at the London club, he featured in a total of 89 matches and contributed towards 44 goals. While his numbers are decent, the 27-year-old was termed as a flop. After falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, he made a move back to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022.
He managed to revive himself with an impressive season last time out. The German international contributed towards 22 goals. But, things haven’t been that great in the ongoing campaign as he has three goal contributions in 13 outings. Werner has started in four of those fixture and has been on the pitch for less than 400 minutes.
The 27-year-old is behind Lois Openda, Benjamin Sesko and Yussuf Poulsen in the pecking order and they are ready to let him leave in the winter window. There is interest in his services from multiple English clubs.
West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Fulham are keen on acquiring his services. The Hammers are quite serious about their pursuit of the German international. They are looking to sign a new attacker in the winter and their scouts are prepared to explore Werner’s current situation at the German club.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace and Fulham have also been linked with the 27-year-old. Both clubs lost their star attacker ahead of the start of the season and are yet to replace them. Palace parted ways with Wilfried Zaha while Fulham parted ways with Aleksandar Mitrović.
Signing Werner will surely bolster their squad but it won’t be easy for either of the three clubs to convince him about the move. The German international had a rough time at Chelsea and he has no intentions of returning to the Premier League. The former Chelsea winger is apprehensive about a return to England. He prefers staying in Germany and working his way back into the RB Leipzig first-team.
