Manchester City could ready a mammoth bid to sign Rafael Leao next summer, as Pep Guardiola eyes further changes to his attacking setup.
According to Fichajes, Manchester City could make a sensational offer worth €150 million for Rafael Leao next summer. Pep Guardiola admires the 24-year-old Serie A forward and could urge the club to move for the talismanic AC Milan star.
AC Milan evaded speculation by agreeing on a new deal with Rafael Leao, who had plenty of interest from the best teams. The 24-year-old Serie A forward had another monumental season for the Rosoneri, but his diminishing contract offered hope to those keen on signing him.
Milan agreed to a new deal and included a mammoth release clause believed in the region of around 175 million. Hence, for interested clubs to strike a deal with the Serie A side, they must either pay that price or at least come close to it.
Clubs like Real Madrid and PSG are all keen, alongside Arsenal, Liverpool, and even Manchester United have set sights on Leao. Yet, Manchester City seems like the club most adamant about signing the 24-year-old Serie A forward if an opportunity presents itself.
Manchester City had already considered a summer move for Leao long ago and would have approached during the summer had he decided not to sign a new deal. Fortunately for Milan, they have protected the Portuguese star’s valuation and will likely demand a massive fee when selling him.
As per the report, Manchester City are willing to offer €150 million to sign Leao next summer. The price may have elements to turn Milan’s heads, but they might still demand something close to his release clause. Pep Guardiola remains a fan of the 24-year-old, as he sees him in his team.
Guardiola also has sights on Nico Williams, but the Athletic Bilbao star is close to signing a new deal in Spain. The Spaniard and Leao are excellent options to consider, and if Manchester City are willing to pay a massive fee, then the Portuguese star would make more sense.
If Manchester City succeeds with a move for Leao without many complications, it would appear like a shake-up of the left-hand side of the attack. Guardiola now has summer signing Jeremy Doku, who continues making the left side his own over Jack Grealish. The arrival of Leao would spell the end for the latter.
Leao will bring a new dimension to that end of the pitch and get a lot of goalscoring prowess to the table. While any deal will prove difficult, it’s certainly not impossible to think Manchester City cannot sign the 24-year-old Serie A forward.
