Arsenal ready to sell Mohammed Elneny in January

Arsenal are prepared to cash in on their 31-year-old Egypt international Mohammed Elneny in the winter transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Arsenal are ready to part ways with Mohammed Elneny in the upcoming transfer window. The Egypt international has gone down the pecking order at the club and the Gunners want to cash in on him.

Elneny joined the Gunners back in the winter of 2016 from FC Basel. He was expected to eventually become a regular but the 31-year-old has had a backup role on majority of occasions. He has only featured in 158 matches for the north London club over the years.

Only 89 of those appearance have come in the Premier League. Meanwhile, the Egypt international returned from injury a few months back. He suffered a serious knee injury last season and has come back after a 10-month-long lay-off.

Since returning to the mix, the 31-year-old has only featured in three matches and all three appearances have come in the dying minutes of a game. He has gone down the pecking order and with his contract running out at the end of the season they are considering offloading him in the winter.

They are aware of the interest in his services from the Saudi Pro League and want to cash in on him during January. Mikel Arteta’s team do not want to lose out on him for free six months down the line.

Clubs from the Saudi Pro League have already signed numerous players from Europe. And, they intend to continue the trend in the upcoming transfer window. Elneny is one of their targets and they have been keeping a close eye on him.

They are monitoring his contract situation and are looking to tempt the player away from the north London club with the offer of regular first-team football. Meanwhile, his departure will help them raise funds for potential signings in the winter window.

Mikel Arteta wants to add a new midfielder to the mix. He already has a strong set of players but he wants more. And, according to reports, the Gunners looking to sell Thomas Partey as well. The departure of the duo could help them sign a quality midfielder.
