Manchester United will have to fork out £30 million for the services of 21-year-old Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Manchester United are keen on having Jarrad Branthwaite in their ranks. The 21-year-old centre-back has caught the attention of the Red Devils and they are considering making a move for him in the near future.
Branthwaite joined Everton in the winter of 2020. He was sent out on multiple loan deals in the initial years and has become more of a regular in the team in the ongoing season. Last term, he was out on loan at PSV Eindhoven.
The 21-year-old did an incredible job and his impressive performances have resulted in him making the move to the Merseyside club’s first team. In the ongoing campaign, the England youth international has featured in a total of 12 matches and has racked up over 1000 minutes.
Branthwaite’s contract with Everton runs until the summer of 2027 and they have no intentions of parting ways with him. However, their financial situation as well as ongoing legal trouble could force them into offloading him. And, according to the report, a fee of around £30 million should be good enough for his services.
The Merseyside club were recently docked 10 points for breaches of profit and sustainability rules. As a result, they are now in the relegation battle. While their situation is a bit complicated, they are in no mood to accept a cut-price for their 21-year-old star defender.
Meanwhile, Everton have already lodged an appeal to the Premier League objecting to the punishment that they have received. They believe it is unfair and want it overturned.
While it will be interesting to see what happens with the appeal, the future of Branthwaite is also something to keep an eye on. Manchester United are keen on having him in their ranks. The Red Devils have suffered because of multiple defensive injuries in the ongoing season.
And, their manager Erik ten Hag wants to add a young talented centre-back to the mix. The 21-year-old has all the skills needed to feature in the heart of the defence and he could be a great fit for the club. The Red Devils would love to get him at a cut-price but even if Everton sticks to their asking price of £30 million, United could still end up pushing for his services.
