Goncalo Inacio keen on Premier League move amid Liverpool links

Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio has been linked with a move to the Premier League recently, and Liverpool are keen on signing him.

A report from TEAMtalk has claimed that Goncalo Inacio wants to move to the Premier League in the coming months. The Portuguese international is a target for Liverpool, with Sporting CP asking for suitors to trigger his £52 million release clause to part ways with him.

Inacio is highly rated around Europe, and he has a big future ahead of him. The Portuguese central defender will cost £52 million because of a release clause in his contract, and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool are prepared to break the bank for him.

It is no secret that Liverpool need to bring in a quality central defender who can operate as a full-back as well. Inacio would be a superb acquisition for them, and the talented young defender could develop into a top-class player with the right guidance.

The opportunity to play for a Premier League club can be hard to turn down, and Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in Europe. The Reds certainly have the financial means to pay the £52 million asking price, and the 22-year-old defender has the ability to justify the investment as well.

Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk are the only reliable central defenders at Liverpool right now. So, signing Inacio could prove to be a wise decision. He can operate as a left-sided central defender as well as a left-back. Furthermore, his arrival will add tactical versatility to the side.

Liverpool are unlikely to be the only club keen on signing him, and it remains to be seen whether the Merseyside outfit can win the race for his signature. A player of his potential might want to join a club in the Champions League.

So, Liverpool would have to ensure that they are in the conversation for a top four finish come the January transfer window. Liverpool have started the season reasonably well, and they will fancy their chances of returning to the UEFA Champions League at the end of the season.
