Bayern Munich have set their sights on Takehiro Tomiyasu ahead of the January window but will face a mammoth task to convince Arsenal or the player.

According to Sky Deutschland, Bayern Munich have identified 25-year-old Arsenal utility man Takehiro Tomiyasu as a target ahead of the January transfer window. The Bavarians are eager to bolster their defence, and the Japanese international’s versatility is seen as valuable. But a deal will prove difficult.

Bayern Munich are keen on bolstering their backline ahead of the January transfer window. Thomas Tuchel wants to solidify their somewhat leaky backline with one or two quality additions in the winter months, with several names featuring on their radar.

Since the summer window closed, Bayern have seen links to experienced stars like Eric Dier. But they are keen on exploring other targets. Manchester United’s Raphael Varane is a name they like, but Erik ten Hag does not want to sell the Frenchman.

They are eager to explore an opportunity for 25-year-old Arsenal utility man Takehiro Tomiyasu. The Japanese international will have 18 months left on his deal, which could see the Bavarians attempt to lure him away from north London.

The idea of the 25-year-old will please Thomas Tuchel, as he values Tomiyasu’s versatility across the backline. The Arsenal star can play in all four positions at the back, and this season, he has excelled at left-back.

Bayern could test Arsenal with an offer. But they are unlikely to succeed, as Mikel Arteta would straight up refuse to sell his crucial performer. The Gunners are planning to open talks over a new contract for Tomiyasu, as Arteta wants to keep hold of all his leading players.

Despite not starting all games, Tomiyasu has remained injury-free and made a massive impact for the Gunners in their Premier League and Champions League campaigns. While the prospect of playing for Bayern would entice any player, Tomiyasu remains happy at Arsenal. So, the Bavarians will find it challenging to convince him otherwise.

Arteta places a lot of emphasis on versatility, and there is no better player in that regard than Tomiyasu in his backline. Hence, there is no chance the Gunners will sanction a departure in the middle of the season as they chase significant honours this season.
