Luiz joined Manchester City back in the summer of 2017 but things didn’t work out for him at Pep Guardiola’s team. He then made a permanent switch to Aston Villa in the summer of 2019. The initial few years at Villa were not that great for the Brazilian but since the arrival of Unai Emery, things have taken a turn.

The 25-year-old has become one of the mainstays of the team. Villa have been doing wonders in the ongoing season. They are currently fifth in the Premier League and just three points behind league leaders City. Luiz has played a big part in their incredible start to the new season. The former City midfielder has six goal contributions in 12 league outings.

Mikel Arteta might have added Declan Rice to his ranks in the summer but the Spanish boss still feels the end of another signing in the centre of the park. He wants to have the Brazil international at his disposal. With Thomas Partey’s future at the club uncertain, it does look like a sensible decision.

The Gunners are looking to go all out to land the 25-year-old at the club in the winter. Their board is ready to once again to big in January. Not only Partey, but the future of Jorginho and Mohamed Elneny are also uncertain as their contract runs out after the end of the season.

As a result, acquiring the services of the former City midfielder with maintain depth as well as quality in their ranks. And, given Luiz’s recent form, he will come in handy in the title race. However, it won’t be easy to prise him away from Villa with his contract running until the summer of 2026.
