Arsenal are looking to acquire the services of the 25-year-old Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz in the winter transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are keen on having Douglas Luiz in their ranks. The 25-year-old midfielder has been on their radar for a while now and they are looking to make a move for his services in the winter. But, Aston Villa are not ready to part ways with the Brazil international, and as a result, the Gunners won’t find it easy.

After coming through the ranks at Vasco da Gama, Luiz joined Manchester City in the summer of 2017. Things didn’t work out for the Brazilian at the Manchester-based club and he decided to join Aston Villa in the summer of 2019.

Things haven’t been easy for Luiz since making the move to Villa. In the initial years, he wasn’t really a regular but a lot has changed since the arrival of Unai Emery. The 25-year-old is now a regular feature in the starting XI and he has been a consistent performer for the Spanish manager.

The Brazil international has featured in 18 matches in the ongoing season and has been on the pitch for over 1,300 minutes. He has even contributed towards eight goals. His impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed and there is a lot of interest in him.

While his contract with Villa runs until the summer of 2026 and they have no intentions of letting him leave, Arsenal are still willing to try their luck to land him at the club in the winter.

The Gunners have recently suffered a blow as Thomas Partey has picked up a serious injury. The 30-year-old might not have been a regular starter of late but he is very important to Mikel Arteta’s plans despite the arrival of Declan Rice. As a result, the north London club are looking to sign a new midfielder.

Douglas Luiz is their favourite when it comes to reinforcing their midfield. People at the club as well as the manager are admirers of the 25-year-old. They feel his arrival could take them to the next level. While the Gunners are ready to go all out, Villa do not have any intentions of parting ways with the Brazil international.
