Tottenham Hotspur have now joined the race to sign the Al-Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves.
The 26-year-old completed a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer but he is already being linked with the return to the Premier League. A report from Team Talk claims that Arsenal and Newcastle United are keen on the player as well.
Neves could return to the Premier League on loan during the second half of the season and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Spurs need to add more quality and depth in the middle of the park and the 26-year-old would be the ideal acquisition for them. The north London outfit could lose a number of players in January because of the African Cup of Nations and the former Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder could fill that void.
The Portuguese international is well suited to the Premier League and he should be able to make an immediate impact if he decides to join Tottenham. Ange Postecoglou’s attacking approach could be a good fit for him as well.
The 26-year-old is an excellent passer from the deep and his ability to pick out his teammates with his long-range passing would add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack.
The 26-year-old showed during his time at Wolves that he is excellent when it comes to creating transitions and counter-attacking opportunities. Tottenham would certainly benefit from having someone like him in their starting lineup.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will need to bring in a quality option if Thomas Partey leaves the club in January. The Portuguese international certainly fits the profile and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners decide to make a move for him.
As far as Newcastle are concerned, summer signing Sandro Tonali has been banned for 10 months for his involvement in an illegal betting scandal and Newcastle need to bring in a quality replacement now.
Signing Neves on a short-term deal would be ideal for the Magpies and the 26-year-old would get to experience Premier League football once again as well. In addition to that, Arsenal and Newcastle might be able to provide him with Champions League action during the second half of the campaign and that could be an enticing prospect for the player.
